Gareth's Sailie
Here's Gareth's sailie, he's going to be wearing that smile for a while. It's his first on fly!
2 sailfish firsts on fly
What a fantastic day!! I know we opened sailfish season almost a month ago but I think it's a little more serious this time round. We managed to land 2 super sailfish on fly. Darren and Gareth both landed their first on fly and i'm sure it'll be a day neither of them will forget.
Sailfish season is officially OPEN!!
Ian Twine was the lucky angler and was blown away by a very acrobatic first sailfish of the season.
26kg King Mackerel
Not to be outdone by Phils success, David Margrett landed a fantastic King Mackerel the very next day, it measured 145cm which puts it at about 26kg. We tagged and released it in good knick.
106cm GT
Phil Shilcock travelled all the way from down under to relax with his missus on Mozambiques incredible beaches. He got authourisation for a mornings fishing and after a lot of nearlys, he landed his first GT, at 106cm in was a fine specimen indeed.
118cm GT
Early March saw us land the biggest GT of the year so far! Hans Limbach had the good fortune of being attached to the beast. It measured 118cm (fork length) and put up one hell of a scrap. He also landed another good GT of 102cm and a springer of about 9kg.
Dave Viljoen's 110cm GT
February was very quiet with Benguerra Lodge being closed, a family visit made sure we got some good fishing in though. The GTs were very co-operative and a couple of tasty yellowfin didn't go amiss. Here Dave Viljoen hugs a very good 110cm GT.
Gareth's GT on fly
Just before Gareth went on leave at the end of January we spent a morning at sea, we plucked a few rats on the fly and then got a very respectable GT on the plug. His biggest GT to date, he's got good reason to smile.
Jerome King Mackerel
2010 didn't start too badly either, Jerome McClusky landed this crocodile of a king mackerel on a windy afternoon in the first week of January. It inhaled a.
Stealthy break
2009 ended in great style with Erki landing a moose of a GT on the fly, unfortunately my 4 piece stealth is now a 5 piece, it broke in the dying minutes of the fight. Erki landed the beast in just over 45 minutes on a heavily weighted chatreuse and white clouser minnow tied specially for his trip to Moz by his brother.
