The best place to access the Bazaruto Archipelago from is from Vilankulos. Federal Air and LAM (Mozambique Airlines) both fly from Johannesburg to Vilankulos regularly. The other alternative is to drive up, if driving from Johannesburg in South Africa, give yourself a day and a half, as the distance is about 1200km and there are one or 2 sections of bad roads. If driving up, a good place to stay is the Blue Anchor, 60km north of Maputo.
